The Inbreds - "Any Sense Of Time"

  1. They could have been bigger than... the Superfrienz? Flashing Lights? Man, I dug this stuff. I was always waiting for the follow up to the solo Mike O'Neill album... then nothing. Around the time of that release I remember seeing him at the Flashing Lights show. Maybe it wasn't him but I think it was. Did you come to that show? It was at some shitty venue on McLoud Trail, can't remember what it was called but you could get a shooter girl to pour two different alcohols down your throat while your head was between he legs. Classy!

  2. You know, my brother-in-law (sister's husband, not Leanne's brother), grew up with these guys in Oshawa or wherever. Mike O'Neill was even the president of their high school!

Anyway, Paul went to see them at the Night Gallery around the time Winning Hearts came out ('98? '99?) - either way, right around the time they were in their 'should-we-or-shouldn't-we continue doing this band thing' frame of mind. Apparently the place was dead because it just so happened Swervedriver were playing one of their reunion shows down the street at the Republik (where I was, in fact) - but that's another comment.

I believe that was one of the very last Inbreds shows, sadly. End of an era, man.

That first Mike O'Neill album is great - I'll try to find a bootleg of a follow-up, if such a thing exists.

The venue that you're thinking of was called The Metro, I believe. I remember some time before I moved out here in '01 or '02, I tried to convince Brock to go with my there to see some spaz pop band called "Hot Hot Heat." In the end, I believe we both thought it would be too much of a hassle having to take the C-train and all.

  3. Funny you should say that because I seem to recall seeing Hot Hot Heat with him at that very venue when he was with Annalaya. It must have been just before we moved to Scotland because this girl I knew came up to me, telling me how much she'd miss me and me getting loads of flax from Cindy about it. That woman was a cold, so cold.
