Here's a question: did the Smiths ever feel like a new band for you? I only heard them in maybe 91' and I felt that they were so far from the past. Even now, I feel like some band from the 70's are...well, newer than the Smiths. Is that weird?
ReplyDeleteNo, they never did. My sister introduced me to them via Hatful of Hollow sometime in the mid 80s, I think. And then she bought a newer compilation, Louder Than Bombs which came out right when the band was fizzling out (or maybe right after?). At any rate, they never seemed relevant to me, but I always enjoyed them to a certain extent.
