I'll never understand why these guys tightened their sound this way. I suppose they had to, the White Dog album probably didn't sell very well. That was a funny time in music, huh? A couple years earlier and they could have been huge. Or maybe a few years after, around that Animal Collective album "Sung Tongs". I still listen to that "Chemistry" as well as this promo Ep I got with a white rabbit on the front, it's quite good. But after that... just not interested mate.
I did however totally forget about this song and what became of it. That sort of looks like my Friday nights here in Dublin, it's going to kick off at any moment.
I recall you pushing that Simian disc on me while you were working at HMV. I think you described it as Autechre meets the Dears - does that sounds familiar? "Mr. Crow" is still alright, isn't it?
They probably would have been more popular if they had released their debut in '98 - wedged between Gomez and the Beta Band or something.
But, you know, their mobile disco thing is doing ok for them - so who's laughing now?
